Driven by a mission of “Connecting the Culture through Cuisine”, DC Capitol Square Bar & Grill brings people from all walks of life together to engage in important conversations right here on Capitol Hill. As a proudly Black-owned business that is rewriting the script of the way Black cultural and culinary excellence is celebrated in our nation’s capital, DC Capitol Square Bar & Grill seeks to participate in the ongoing regeneration of Ward 7 while counterbalancing the displacement trends that have resulted from nation-leading rates of gentrification. We want to create a success profile for this part of DC that includes EVERYONE in the greatness to come. As such, we consistently hire marginalized professionals from Ward 7 and Ward 8, providing them with a substantial suite of professional development support, including on-the-job training and in-depth case management. We want to use our business as a key employer and supporter that generates new possibilities for many of our friends and neighbors who otherwise would not have equitable opportunities to participate in a fine dining enterprise. As a community-focused restaurant that explores the rich intersections of American, African, and Caribbean cuisine, we have prioritized creating exciting rotating menus that celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Ward 7, so that everyone who comes to this part of the city can savor the rich history and profound cultural depth of our people. DC Capitol Square Bar & Grill is an invitation to everyone to believe in what our neighborhoods can bring to the table.
