This November, now renamed RHOvember, is the month that Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. to celebrate its Centennial Year around the globe to include its birthplace, Butler University in Indianapolis, IN.
On November 12, 1922, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was founded at Butler University by seven young educators with a mission to enhance the quality of life for women and their families in the U.S. and globally through positive community engagement. In the 100 years since its founding, the organization continues its mission to achieve greater progress in the areas of education, healthcare, and leadership development. Through partnerships and service, the sorority has grown to over 500 chapters worldwide including the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Germany, South Korea, Ghana, and the United Arab Emirates.
To honor the Centennial Pretty Poodles, we are sharing some “RHOyal Blue and Gold” inspired cocktails.
RHOyal Blue Martini

Sometimes you want to feel like RHOyalty while you sit and sip. These moments call not for a glass of Malbec or Pinot Gris, but they call for the classic martini with a “blue twist”. Let the RHOyal Blue and Gold unfold!

Ingredients
- 1.5 Oz.. Vodka
- 1.5 Oz. Blue Curacao
- 2.25 Oz. Cranberry Juice
- 1 Tsp. Simple Syrup or sugar
- Garnishments:
- Honey
- Slice of lemon
- 1/4 C. of Sugar
- A few drops of yellow food coloring optional
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix food coloring and 1/4 C. of sugar.
- Add colored sugar to a small plate.
- Dip rim of a martini glass in honey and then sugar until coated.
- Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with 2 C. of ice. Shake vigorously until chilled and strain into martini glasses.
- Garnish with a lemon.
Bluetiful Gin & Tonic

You deserve the luxury by the way of cocktail hour. Nothing is better than the combination of gin and tonic. The only way to make it better is to turn it blue.

Ingredients
- 4 ounces of your preferred gin
- 2 tablespoons lime juice (fresh squeezed is best)
- 1 cup tonic water
- 2 cups ice
- 1 ounce blue curacao
- 3 Maraschino cherries, for garnish
- lime wheels / wedges, for garnish
Instructions
- Add the gin to a glass.
- Pour in the blue curacao.
- Add a squeeze of lime and stir.
- Carefully pour in tonic water to taste.
- Garnish with lime wheels and maraschino cherries.
- Garnish with a lemon.
