    One of the oldest Black-Owned restaurants in Houston, This Is It Soul Food is still standing strong as the original soul food restaurant of Houston! Everyone knows us to serve traditional Southern foods, including smothered turkey wings, chitterlings, cornbread dressing, black-eyed peas, smothered pork chops, candied yams, two-time award winning baked macaroni and cheese, and, of course, Houston’s best braised oxtails. 61 years later, This Is It is now lead by the fourth generation with mentorship from the third generation and is growing day by day.     Southern Fried Chicken- $20

    Crispy southern fried chicken seasoned and marinated with our classic blend of herbs and spices. Served with your choice of two sides, a small drink, and peach cobbler.

    Smothered Chicken- $20

    Chicken seasoned to perfection, quickly braised, and then simmered with onions, peppers, and gravy. Served with your choice of two sides, a small drink, and peach cobbler.

    Smothered Pork Chops- $20

    Pork chops braised then simmered with peppers, onions, and gravy. until fork tender. Served with your choice of two sides, a small drink, and peach cobbler.

    Peach Cobbler- $4

    Golden peaches, butter, sugar, and spices folded into a buttery crust, then topped with more crust and baked until golden brown.

    Really enjoyed the down home cooking. Portions were good size and the food fresh. I’d recommend the restaurant for those who want to discover what soul food is about.
