Restaurants are encouraged to offer a special menu during Black Restaurant Week to attract diners. Special menu pricing entices customers to explore new dining options in their community. Restaurants can choose their own menu items, pricing, and meal offerings, including:
– Brunch
– Breakfast
– Lunch
– Happy Hour
– Dinner
– Desserts & Ice Cream
– Smoothie/Juice/Coffee/Tea
Black Restaurant Week will upload your special menu to your website listing, adding a red “Special Menu” button to the front of your listing to inform diners about your special offerings. Additionally, we have provided templates in the digital toolkit for you to post your special menu online and print it out for diners in your restaurant.
Restaurants offering a special menu will experience increased website traffic to their listing and business compared to those that don’t. For a successful campaign, we highly recommend using this opportunity to promote customer favorite dishes or to test out new dishes within your community.
Help us amplify the noise of the campaign by promoting Black Restaurant Week to your audience as well. To ensure a successful marketing campaign, we are providing the following tips and best practices below:
INFORM Staff about Black Restaurant Week: Please inform your staff about your participation in Black Restaurant Week, so that they can highlight the special menu to your patrons. This will help cut down confusion when guests request the special Black Restaurant Week menu. We have seen comments on social media from diners that employees aren’t aware of their restaurant’s participation in the campaign.
POST Restaurant Week Announcement: We have provided all participants with a custom graphic template to promote your participation in Black Restaurant Week. Share this graphic on your social media, and tag us with #BLACKRESTAURANTWEEK. Text the graphic to friends, family members, church members, your staff, and blast it out on your email campaign lists. We also recommend that you pin this graphic to the top of your Facebook and Instagram page.
SUGGESTED REELS & POSTS: Below are a few examples of posts to create on social media to promote your participation:

POST Black Restaurant Week Promotional Video: Black Restaurant Week has created a promotional video for Black Restaurant Week. We have included the video in the social toolkit for you to post on social media.
TAKE Photos and Videos of your Meal Specials: Food is the number one motivation for guests to visit your restaurant. Capitalize on this by taking photos of the special dishes that you are highlighting on the Black Restaurant Week menu. We also suggest engaging local food bloggers to come sample your dishes and take photos if you don’t have an internal social media team. This will ensure you have high-quality photos to post about your food on social media. Please contact us if you need assistance with reaching out to local food bloggers.
ENGAGE Guests during the campaign: Create brand loyalty to customers by engaging them throughout the campaign. Encourage guests to take photos of their dining experience and post on social media. We’ve seen restaurants record guest testimonial videos with Instagram Stories as well to post on social media. Be sure to tag us on your Instagram Stories so that we can repost,@blackrestaurantweek. During the campaign, Black Restaurant Week will share reposts from patrons supporting the restaurants. Make sure to have guests tag us with #BLACKRESTAURANTWEEK.
SHARE Press: Throughout the campaign, we have received press coverage for Black Restaurant Week and our participants. Please share coverage on your social media networks.
