We are so thrilled Black Restaurant Week is here. Our first choice was the Upper Kirby Bistro. The food was fantastic–the fried chicken was tender and tasty, the Asian shrimp and curry roasted chicken wonderfully spicy. All the sides were delicious. The greens and artichoke dip is outstanding. We chose their red wine, a lovely Cabernet from South Africa, delicious. We are so thrilled to have discovered this place. We did take out, but arrived early. We then enjoyed some specialty ice tea and toured the five venues while we waited. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
I ventured out to enjoy another new restaurant; I will say the short staff, assuming due to Covid19, was noticed as I tried to determine if I should wait to be seated or seat myself.
Thankfully someone noticed my confusion & explained I could sit where I liked.
I arrived after 8pm & decided on a light meal from the Grazer section; Jerk Salmon Ceasar & the d’jango daiquiri to cool my palate from the anticipated Jerk tingle.
I waited a bit but not annoyingly long. I could hear multiple music beats from within the restaurant & the adjoining rooms that peeked my interest to venture around after my meal.
The salmon was a good size, cooked well & had good flavor, sadly the Jerk flavor was non existent in the fish & dressing. The lettuce was crisp & the meal was filling.
The drink although refreshing was weak for my taste buds.
After my meal a nice young man took me on a tour of the other areas available to hang, enjoy music, drink, eat & hookah. It deserves a return visit.
